Now in this video, we are going to look at password manager applications. Now, what we said in other videos is you need to have a very secure password and a secure password would be upper case, lower case, numbers and special characters, things like question marks, exclamation marks. Now if you have a random 20 digit password and you have a different password for every single website you visit, you are never, ever, going to remember those. So, you can save your password and you can save it in different ways. You can save it through the browser you are working with. So, for example, Google Chrome has its own password manager or you can use an application like a Passpack or Bitwarden. So, what we are going to do now is, at first have a look at the basics. This is Passpack. These are just two examples of different applications that you can work with. There is lots and lots of them out there. We are not saying these are better or worse than any of the others, but we are just giving you an example. And Passpack has got a web-based system and you can use it to log in and actually see the password that you want to access. Now, when you are accessing Passpack, it will ask you to create a username, it will also have a password, then you have to click on the screen to click an image and it will tell you which image it wants to actually click.

So for example, you click the little box that is shaded in black. And then after that, you have an unpacking key and that is a phrase that you pre-set. So, there is quite a lot, you have got four different areas that you need to do before you can get into your account. And the important thing with the passwords for your password system, is you need to remember what they are, 'cause if you cannot get into your password application, you have got a problem. Some of them, you can reset but others you cannot. So, if you lose that or forget your main password, you have got a problem. So, that is Passpack, another one is Bitwarden. Bitwarden is an easy to use application. It is available on a website, it is also available as an app on your phone and also as an extension on Google Chrome. Now what an extension is, is a button, whereas if you log onto a website and you click on the Bitwarden icon at the very top of your Google Chrome browser, you can then log in with your master password and then it will automatically fill in your passwords on that page. And it automatically turns off, you need to re-log into it after pre-set times. So, if you are working on a website, you have got lots of sites to log in to, you only log in once and then, it can pre-populate the fields.

Also when you go to a new website and create a new account, what you can do then, directly with Bitwarden, is you can access the system, so you can create a new log in and it will create an automatic password as long as you want. So you can pre-set it to 30 characters or whatever you want and it will be one of these random numbers and you can paste that straight in. So, you can just literally either automatically fill it in from the extension or copy it and paste it straight onto the website. So, as you see here, this is the Bitwarden dashboard for the web browser. You have got the companies down here that you can work with and you can click on those and when you do click on them, you can access, information and password, you can make notes. And depending on what sort of plan you have with them, you can even upload files and documents here as well. And then the final way, we will look at, of using a password application, is not with one of these systems, but using your browser. So, we are just going to show you with Google Chrome, but other browsers have similar sorts of ideas. Hit the dots and then from here, we want to just go down, till it says, settings. It will open up a new window. And what we want to do then is click on the left-hand side where it says auto-fill. And the very first one here is passwords, so if we click on that, what we can do is if there are any passwords saved, it will list them through.

Also from here, we can delete passwords and we can change the general settings that we have. So, here it says, "offer to save passwords", which is pretty done. So, we can just turn that on or off. So, if you put a password when you go to a new website, if you have got the offer to save passwords turned on, it will automatically then save that password or offer to save that password onto your system. And then also you can check passwords as well that are actually already there. So, it depends on what passwords you have got on the system then, they will all be listed there. You can also delete the account as well if you want. So, if you want to just clear every single password off the system, you can do that. Now if you are using a browser-based password saver, the important thing is then, is what is the security like on your computer. If you do not have a password on your laptop or your computer, then when someone... If someone stole your machine, they would automatically have access to every single password you have got. So, always make sure that you have a lock system on your computer. You can set it for four hours, five hours or whatever, so if it has never been used in that amount of time, it will automatically lock or you can cut it right back to much shorter times.

So, if you are using a laptop or your computer at work or a location where other people gain access to it, maybe, lock it up a lot, lot quicker. So, if it has not gotten any action within five minutes, 10 minutes, then it will lock up. That way, you are entering in your password to open up your computer, but then you actually got access to all these others. And then, the advantage of using the application to store your passwords on is in order to get them, for example, with the Bitwarden, one I showed you earlier, in order to access those passwords, even if your computer is turned on, they cannot access it, unless they know your master password. And with that master password, I would mix just... Maybe start off with a question mark at the beginning of a sentence and an exclamation mark at the end or something like that, and then a sentence that means something to you. So, you can have a very long password but it is very, very easy to remember.
